Despite being tiny, forget-me-not flowers are striking enough to have legends about them. How did they get their memorable name? According to a German folk tale, God named almost all the flowers when a small blue flower cried, “Forget me not, O Lord!” And God replied, “That shall be your name.” Another legend is sadder: a knight was picking wildflowers for his lady when the weight of his armor made him fall into a river. He threw the bouquet to his lover and shouted, before drowning, “Forget me not!” Regardless of how the tiny blossom received its name, it’s definitely a flower photographers should not forget.
