The Horsemen of the Americas – Pictures of Working Cowboys by Luis Fabini May 17th 2013, 14:09 Luis Fabini became a photographer at the age of seven, when his father put a camera in his hand before the two went trekking across the Andes. Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Luis has spent most of his life moving between South America, Europe and the United States, teaching himself photography on the way. He worked as a trekking guide and photographer in South America during his twenties, where he became fascinated with the working relationship between man and horse. He now lives in New York City but still travels frequently in the Americas, developing his long-term project, ‘The Horsemen of the Americas’. This incredible collection of photos documents the lives of working cowboys–also known as chagras, vaqueiros, gauchos, huasos, and charros. This project has been a big part of his life since 2005. In the past 6 years alone, he’s visited 10 different countries in search of these remotely-situated, 21st-century cowboys. To see more of Luis’s photography, visit his website or facebook page.
